A NETHERTON woman has been nominated for a top award in recognition of her "outstanding services" to the home care sector.

Lynne Higgins is one of five finalists in the running for Home Instead Senior Care’s Caregiver of the Year award.

The 47-year-old field support worker was nominated by Julie and Ian Williams, the joint owners of Home Instead Dudley and Sandwell South.

Ian said: “Lynne is a fantastic caregiver, proving time and time again that she is dedicated to her clients by changing plans and dropping everything to support them.

“One of Lynne’s clients had very low self-esteem and didn’t like to leave the house. Whilst building a strong and trusting relationship, Lynne was able to boost her client’s confidence making her more cheerful and less anxious.

"Her natural ability to care, communicate and support makes her a wonderful caregiver, I'm so very proud to have her as part of our team, we are richer for knowing her."

He continued: “After one client explained to Lynne that she had never had a Christmas tree, even as a child, Lynne set to work arranging a ‘tree drive’.

"Lynne received Christmas decorations and a beautiful tree from the office team, caregivers and other local people, much to the delight of her client.

"After Christmas I rang Lynne’s client who told me it had been the best Christmas she’d ever had, Lynne has continued this tradition for the last three years.”

Lynne will find out if she has won the award next month.
