BOSSES have admitted that a waste container stolen from Russells Hall Hospital may have contained confidential information.
The container, which held paper waste, was stolen from the back of the hospital at 6.45pm on October 5.
Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "There may have been some confidential information mixed in with the general paper recycling but we cannot confirm exactly what was in the container."
However Ms Wake insisted that patients' medical records were "stored at a separate secure site and disposed of in a different process".
The theft is being investigated by West Midlands Police.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
