A DUDLEY man fiddled more than £15,000 in benefits by failing to reveal he owned a second house which was being rented out for £125 a week.

Mohammed Hussain, aged 52, had a house in Lupin Road, Kates Hill, but he had also bought a second property in the town, Laura Cullen, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

She said that Hussain, who could not work because of health problems, illegally claimed a total of £15,028 from the Department of Work and Pensions.

Hussain admitted making a false representation to obtain benefits and Deputy Circuit Judge John Wait told him it was important he provided a full picture of his finances before the case against him could be finalised.

He told Hussain it was vital a full investigation was carried out into his financial position and sentence would only be passed when the facts were at hand.

Richard Davenport, defending Hussain, who was remanded on bail until February 16, said there was sufficient equity in the two houses to clear all the money he had obtained illegally.
