A DUDLEY man who had three knives in a public place has avoided spending time behind bars.

Mahesh Don Weerathunga, aged 40, of Holly Road, was sent to prison for 14 weeks, suspended for 12 months, for possessing a kitchen, carving and butter knife in Dudley on October 21. 

He was also sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby. 

He must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £185 court costs.

Andy David Eagles, aged 41, of Dove Drive, Stourbridge, was fined £300 for drink driving in Amblecote on December 13. When tested, he had 88mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was disqualified from driving for 20 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Kimberley Gibbs, aged 26, of Lower Derry Street, Brierley Hill, was given a six month community order for stealing items, worth £238, from Boots, Dudley, on August 12, while subject to a conditional discharge. She must pay compensation of £238 and a victim surcharge of £85.

Robert William Clarke, aged 32, of Langley Road, Oldbury, was sent to prison for 20 weeks, suspended for six months, for posting a message on Facebook that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, on March 30. He must pay compensation of £100 and £250 court costs.

Stephen Thomas Plant, aged 26, of The Close, Lower Gornal, was fined £600 for drink driving in Pensnett on December 25. When tested, he had 45mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was also sentenced for driving without insurance and failing to stop after an accident. He was disqualified from driving for 16 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Samuel James Ryder, aged 23, of French Road, Kates Hill, was fined £500 for drink driving in Netherton on August 21. When tested, he had 107mlgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood. The legal limit is 80mlgs. He was also sentenced for driving without due care and attention or insurance and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress. He was disqualified from driving for 20 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Tracey Michelle Rowley, aged 37, of Claycroft Place, Lye, was sent to prison for six weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing items, worth £254, from shops in Stourbridge between September 24 and October 8. She must pay compensation of £254 and a victim surcharge of £115.

Sajjad Hussain, aged 44, of Claughton Road, Dudley, was sent to prison for 16 weeks, suspended for two years, for drink driving in Halesowen on October 10. When tested, he had 88mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was given a 12 week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am. He was disqualified from driving for four years and must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £500 court costs.

Matthew Glyn Lewis, aged 27, of Bells Lane, Wordsley, was given an eight week community order for causing £150 worth of damage to a window belonging to A1 Taxis, in Oldbury, on December 19, 2017. He was also sentenced for failing to surrender at Dudley Magistrates Court on January 2, having been released on bail. He was given an eight week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am. He must pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Jonathan Stanford, aged 41, of Fithern Close, Upper Gornal, was given a 12 month community order for assaulting a man in Oldbury on December 7. He was also fined £120 for using threatening or abusive words within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress. The latter offence was racially aggravated. He was given an eight week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am. He must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £185 court costs.

Jade Laura Wyatt, aged 24, of Elm Terrace, Oldbury, was given a 12 month community order for producing 20 cannabis plants in Tividale on December 25. She must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £185 court costs.

Tina Maria Cannon, aged 35, of Heathcliff Road, Dudley, was given a 12 month community order for attempting to steal lead from Waldrons Solicitors, Dudley, on October 5. She was also sentenced for stealing lead from OES Consulting, Dudley, on September 25 and October 3. She must pay compensation of £50, a victim surcharge of £85, compensation of £100 and £250 court costs.

Frankie Michael O’Donnell, aged 31, of New Mill Street, Dudley, was sent to prison for 20 weeks for attempting to steal lead from Waldrons Solicitors, Dudley, on October 5. He was also sentenced for stealing lead from OES Consulting, Dudley, on September 25 and October 3 and failing to surrender to Dudley Magistrates Court on November 28, having been released on bail. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Ashley Luke Stretton, aged 22, of Harrisons Fold, Netherton, was fined £120 for drink driving in Dudley on December 26. When tested, he had 57mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was also sentenced for driving without insurance. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Lee Stuart Thompon, aged 44, of Cradley Road, Netherton, was given a 12 month community order for assaulting a woman and destroying a mobile phone in Oldbury on October 15. He must pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £85 and £200 court costs.

Jamie Anthony Rollinson, aged 33, of Barnbrook Crescent, Halesowen, was sent to prison for 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months, for entering Howley Grange Primary School in Halesowen as a trespasser between November 12 and 15 and stealing a fridge, kettle and bin, worth £1,000. He must pay compensation of £400 and a victim surcharge of £115.

Sky Lee-Ann Leighton, aged 19, of Woodcroft Close, Cradley Heath, was given a six month community order for assaulting a police officer in Cradley Heath on December 28. She must pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Craig Martin Paul Thompson, aged 44, of Wellington Road, Dudley, was fined £250 for damaging windows in Oldbury on April 2. He must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £500 court costs.
