PEOPLE will be encouraged to talk about their mental health at an event in Brierley Hill next week.

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust will be hosting a mental health forum on Thursday (February 1), to celebrate Time to Talk Day.

The event, which will share tips on starting conversations around mental health, will run at Brierley Hill Civic Hall in Bank Street from 11am to 1pm.

A range of stallholders will be present at the event, which will also cover personality disorders, the perceptions of them, symptoms, behavioural traits and services we provide to help.

Attendees will hear from a service user, gaining their perspective on personality disorders, treatment, and how it can affect somebody’s life.

There will also be a clinical view given on the day which will cover the behavioural traits that someone with the condition may have and the services that the trust provides, as well as local support avenues.

A free lunch will be provided.

Mark Axcell, chief executive at the trust, said “We are committed to raising the profile of mental health and even more so to reducing the stigma around it.

"Making sure that all mental health conditions are understood, including those that are more severe like personality disorders, is really important to us and offering events such as the mental health forum is just one of the ways that we can raise awareness of the condition and the help that is available to patients.”

Anyone who would like to book a free place at the event must email dwmh.communication@nhs.net or call 01384 325015.
