A FAMILY has made a generous donation to The Big Push campaign in memory of a loved one.

Gurdev Kaur Tagger, who suffered from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, was treated at Russell Hall Hospital’s Georgina Unit for 12 years prior to her death in 2006.

The 61-year-old, who had lived in the borough since the 1960s, left behind her husband Sadhu Singh Tagger, four children and six grandchildren.

To thank the hospital for the care she received over the years, her family decided to donate £600 to the campaign, which aims to raise £30,000 to purchase 50 new wheelchairs.

Her daughter, Balie Kang, said: “We have donated to The Big Push in memory of our mum as we feel it is a worthy cause and Russells Hall staff offered us a lot of help and assistance during the time mom was ill.

“Whilst every cause is worthwhile, this cause has more meaning to us due to the care and respect our mum received during the time she was there.

“The donation also includes contributions from my two cousins.”

Karen Phillips, fundraising manager for the Dudley Group NHS Charity, added: “We are really grateful to Balie and her family for sponsoring a wheelchair.

“We have been quite moved by families donating in memory of their loved ones, and we have tried to add an individual touch to each of the sponsor’s stickers to reflect their loved ones personalities.”

Our total now stands at £24,969 and you can help us reach our target by popping into our offices at St John’s House, Stourbridge, with cash or cheques – made payable to Dudley Group NHS Charity/Wheelchairs.
