A CHARITY darts exhibition in Woodsetton has raised £5,500 for Mary Stevens Hospice.

Star names such as Daryl Gurney and Steve Beaton took part in the tournament at Parkes Hall Social Club on February 24 to raise money and awareness for the work of the Hagley Road hospice and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which received a further £1,200.

The sell-out event saw more than 200 darts fans pack out the venue for an evening of top class darts, with Beaton eventually running out winner against Gurney after Jamie 'Cabba' Caven and Alan 'Chuck' Norris had fallen in the first round.

The event was supported by professional caller, Kirk 'The Kirkulator' Bevins, and walk-on girls, Daniella Harper and Charlotte Wood.

It was the second Tungsten Hold 'Em darts event in support of the hospice, after debuting in 2017 and raising £4,000 for families relying on the care of the Stourbridge charity.

Hospice spokesman, Dan Malin, wished to thank organiser Sean Marshall and his team for putting on the "remarkable" event, adding: "For it to culminate in such a wonderful evening is just so fantastic to see.

"For so many recognisable stars to turn out in support of the evening was humbling and we'd just like to extend our congratulations to Steve for his performance on the night.

"Most of all, we'd like to say thank you to everyone who brought this event to life and to everyone who bought their tickets, the difference made to families here through this event simply can't be overestimated.”
