A STATE school has been criticised for removing references to homosexuality and women socialising with men from a GCSE textbook.

An image of Fred Astaire dancing with Ginger Rogers was among the content blocked out by Yesodey Hatorah Senior Girls’ School – an Orthodox Jewish school in Stamford Hill, east London – in copies of the book seen by Humanists UK.

A spokesman for the school said it was well known that it redacts textbooks, and this is done to “protect girls from sexualisation” in line with parents’ wishes and religious beliefs.

PC Keith Palmer has been posthumously honoured by the Metropolitan Police for his heroic response during the Westminster terror attack.

The officer, who was stabbed to death when he confronted attacker Khalid Masood outside the Houses of Parliament last March, was named the winner of the outstanding bravery of the year prize at the Met Excellence Awards.

On the day of the attack on March 22, Pc Palmer, a husband and father, was on duty at the Palace of Westminster.

The 48-year-old came face-to-face with Masood, who was armed with two large knives, moments after the terrorist drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge.

THE Parsons Green bomber confessed to making explosives when he was arrested the day after the attack, a court heard.

Ahmed Hassan, 18, had shrugged when he was stopped by officers at the Port of Dover and asked if he had seen the news.

Questioned about who made the bomb in an emergency safety interview, Hassan replied: “I did.”

On whether there were any more bombs, he said there “may be a few milligrams, traces, at my home address.”
