HUNDREDS of walker braved the heat to take part in the 38th annual Dudley Trail on Sunday (May 6).

Nearly 1,600 people of all ages met at Dudley Leisure Centre before tackling one of the five routes of six, nine, 12, 20 and 28 miles.

Milking Bank siblings Riley and Madison Farmer were among those taking on the 20 mile route and managed to complete it in nine hours, 15 minutes.

Their proud dad Jonathan said this was the third year they had taken part, adding: "We do the walk as a family. It's great fun for the kids and a great chance to make our whole family proud."

Dudley businessman, Mohammed Sagir, who runs Direct Link Communications in Wolverhampton Street, blitzed the six mile route within two hours.

He raised £200 through sponsorship, which he will split between Salma Food Bank in Smethwick and Heaven's Kitchen, based in Dudley Community Church on Salop Street, which provides hot meals for the homeless.

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event."
