DUDLEY borough’s health chiefs have announced the re-appointment of Dr David Hegarty MBE as chairman of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) governing body for the next three years.

The formal announcement was made last week at the CCG board meeting following a recent election process, with Dr Hegarty continuing the role he has been carrying out since April 2013.

He has been a GP in the Black Country for over twenty years, the majority of that time working as a Partner with Wychbury Medical Group which has practices in Stourbridge, Halesowen and Cradley Heath.

Dr Hegarty, who was given an MBE in 2017, said: “It is a real honour to have been re-elected to the governing body and to be voted in again as chair.

“I welcome the opportunity to lead the CCG in our next stage of development alongside a dedicated team of clinicians and CCG staff, who have all contributed to our success in Dudley so far.”

As chairman, the role of Dr Hegarty is to ensure the CCG exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the CCG constitution.

He will also chair a number of meetings within the CCG, including the CCG Board meeting held in public and the CCG’s Annual Public Meeting.
