A BRIERLEY Hill shopping centre is on the hunt for new apprentices.

The recruitment drive comes after two Wordsley students successfully completed intu Merry Hill’s two-year apprenticeship programme.

Following their graduation, Connor Rich and Max Ashman, both aged 20, have secured full time roles in the centre's technical department.

Connor said: “An apprentice scheme is a great way to learn the tricks of the trade while gaining invaluable hands-on experience, which is what first attracted me to the programme.

“The team at intu Merry Hill have been incredibly welcoming and supportive as Max and I learnt the ropes. One of the best things about working for the centre is seeing the direct impact our work has on our customers. We fully understand their needs, which makes for a happier shopping experience.”

Robert Pickersgill, the centre's marketing manager, added: “Our apprenticeship programme is an important part of our commitment to giving back to our local community by nurturing local talent and giving young people the platform they need to start their careers.

“Our mission to making sure customers leave the centre happier than when they arrived is down to our diverse and dedicated team, which is why it’s so important to invest time supporting the next generation. We’re proud to welcome Connor and Max to as full-time employees."

He continued: “We’re now looking for more new apprentices to join our growing team and I’d encourage anyone looking to start a career in the retail industry to apply as it could be the stepping stone to an exciting and promising career.”
