THREE historic churches will be open to the public on Black Country Day.

Top Church and Bottom Church in Dudley town centre and St John’s Church in Brockmoor will be welcoming visitors on July 14.

Kate Andrew, church buildings project manager, said: “All three churches have been on the Historic England 'Buildings at Risk' register for some time, but thanks to awards from the Heritage Lottery Fund, dedicated work by local volunteers and many months of building conservation work, they are now in much better condition.

"We’d like to invite people to come in and see what we’re doing as well as our plans for the future.”

St Thomas and St Luke’s (Top Church) is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the present building and will be open for visitors between 10am and 1pm.

St John’s Church Brockmoor will be open from 10am until 2pm and visitors can enjoy a free cake and cuppa, see one of the stonemasons at work, have a go at building a mini stone wall and try their hand at stone carving.

St Edmund King and Martyr (Bottom Church) will be open from 10am to 4pm with a display, tea, coffee and cakes and free guided tours at 11m, 1pm and 3pm.
