HAPPY Black Country Day to all of our readers across out great region.

The day is the highlight of the Black Country Festival – which is now in its fifth year! – celebrating the pride we have in our heritage.

Before the festival kicked off earlier this month, organisers promised 2018 to be the biggest and best yet, with dozens of events taking place across the region.

Fun days, carnivals, festivals, golf tournaments, transport shows are all taking place today.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Alan Taylor, will be among those celebrating Black Country Day in Dudley town centre today.

Cllr Taylor said: “This is a very proud day in the Black Country calendar and I am sure the thousands of people there on the day will agree.

“The organisers have done a fantastic job to make sure there’s lots going on in the town centre and I am very much looking forward to joining other proud Black Country folk.”
