A NEW service has been launched, offering support to people with disabilities and special educations needs.

The Dudley Disability Service will provide a range of care and support services for people of all ages, helping them to become independent by gaining skills, knowledge and confidence.

People using the service will benefit from day services, family centres, technology enabled support, assisted living, residential care and respite care, employment support, health visiting and school nurse support.

The service also works closely with the voluntary and community sector, sharing skills and providing the best services available to users.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “The new disability support service will ensure that every person with a disability or special educational need is provided with all of the information, advice and practical support they need with this one-stop shop approach.

“By aiming to provide support from birth, through adulthood and into old age, the service provides continuity of care, support, consistency and stability to those who most need it and we should be proud of the work that we and our partners are undertaking to help people live their lives as fully, happily and independently as possible.”
