SUMMER Nights are certainly here right now - and a local theatre group have been hopelessly devoting their time to putting on an iconic musical this weekend.

Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company's youth section will be performing Grease at the Crestwood School Theatre, Kingswinford, on Friday and Saturday (July 20 and 21).

A 30-strong cast of young actors - headed by Josh Hawkings as Danny and Jemma Hughes as Sandy - will perform famous numbers like Greased Lightning, You're The One That I Want and more.

Grease - set in 1959 at American school Rydell High - focuses on ten teenagers in their final year at school and made John Travolta and Olivia Newton John household names.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the release of the motion picture, making it the perfect comeback project for BHMTC's youth section, which has taken a three-year break from the stage.

Jo Gresswell, leader of the group, said: "The youth section play a pivotal role within our company and over the years we've seen many of members go onto to work professionally in the theatre and/or the entertainments industry.

"The cast have worked so hard on this production and they really are a talented bunch of young actors, dancers and singers!"

Performances will take place at The Crestwood School Theatre on Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
