AN Australian “comedy genius” renowned for improvising his whole set is headlining a night of stand-up in Dudley tonight (Friday).

John Robertson will take top billing at The Court House for the latest instalment of Comedy At The Court House.

He will be supported on the night by character act President Obonjo, and musical comic George Rigden.

The night will be hosted by resident MC Wayne Beese, from Dudley, who said: “Genius is an over-used term in comedy, but it definitely applies to John Robertson.

“He doesn’t use a mic. He doesn’t have a script. Nothing is off limits. It will be half an hour of riffing off the audience and, if his previous performances at our sister club are anything to go by, it will be hilariously memorable.

“The support acts are top draw as well – we’ll have the only President on the comedy circuit, complete with full field marshal uniform, asking the good people of Dudley to pledge allegiance to the Lafta Republic.

“And George has drawn favourable comparisons with the likes of Tim Minchin and Ricky Gervais. He’s not been going that long, but he is very highly rated for good reason and extremely talented.

“All in all it will be a brilliant night of laughs, and it’s only a tenner. Come and give us a try – what have you got to lose?”

Doors open at 8pm in the upstairs room at the pub in New Street, with the show starting at around 8.30pm.

Tickets are £10 plus booking fee and are available online at www.funnybeeseness.co.uk.

To avoid the booking fee, email Wayne at wpbeese@hotmail.com or text 07759543750 to reserve for pay on the door.

The night runs on the last Friday of every month.
