A DANGEROUS driver who was caught with a machete has been handed a suspended sentence.

Aiman Athar Ahmed, of Mountain Ash Drive, Stourbridge, was sent to prison for 24 weeks, suspended for 12 months, for possessing the blade in Holly Hall Road, Dudley, and driving dangerously, without insurance, on Thorns Road, Quarry Bank, on May 29.

The 18-year-old was also sentenced for possessing cocaine and cannabis in Oldbury and driving while disqualified and without insurance on July 18.

Ahmed was disqualified from driving for two years and was given eight penalty points.

He must also carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and pay a £115 victim surcharge and £200 court costs.

The following appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court between July 20 and 30:

Lukasz Byczek, aged 22, of Vicarage Street, Oldbury, was given a 12 month community order for using violence to secure entry to premises in Oldbury on April 5, knowing there was someone present who was opposed to said entry. He was also sentenced for failing to surrender to custody at Dudley Magistrates Court on June 28, having been released on bail. He must carry out 100 hours unpaid work and pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £620 court costs.

Kristian Timmington, aged 20, of Bobbington Way, Netherton, was given a 12 week community order for assaulting a man in Netherton on December 13, 2017. He was given a 12 week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 8pm and 6am. He must also pay £100 compensation, a victim surcharge of £85 and £300 court costs.

Terry Daniel Grove, aged 30, of Martley Road, Oldbury, was given a nine month community order for stealing items, worth £258, from shops in Oldbury and Rowley Regis between April 8 and May 13. He must pay £178 compensation, a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Jonathan Staples, aged 30, of Inkberrow Road, Halesowen, was fined £40 for wilfully obstructing a police officer in Halesowen on March 15. He must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Samuel Portman, aged 27, of Wychbury Road, Wollescote, was fined £120 for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a person to think that violence would be used in Stourbridge on January 14 and 18. One of the offences was racially aggravated. He must pay £50 compensation.

Dale Martin Mansell, aged 37, of Priory Road, Dudley, was sent to prison for 16 weeks for stealing cosmetics, worth £49.25, from Michael’s Supermarket, Dudley, on July 21, while subject to a suspended sentence. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Darren Matthew Shelley-Mellor, aged 41, of Cinder Bank, Netherton, was given a 12 month community order for drink driving in Exeter on April 5. When tested, he had 110mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was also sentenced for driving while disqualified and driving without insurance or MOT. He was given a 12 week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am. He was disqualified from driving for 48 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Nathan Small, aged 25, of Charles Road, Brierley Hill, was given a 12 month community order for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a person to believe that violence would be used in Quarry Bank on May 7.He must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £300 court costs.

Rebecca Phipps, aged 39, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was given a two month community order for stealing £2,869 from A E Chapman, Cradley Heath, between February 20 and April 13. She was given a two month curfew and for the duration must remain at her home address between 3pm and 3am. She must also pay compensation of £2,869, a victim surcharge of £85 and £185 court costs.

Thomas Stephen Payne, aged 34, of Prescott Road, Pedmore, was given a three month community order for assaulting a man and causing £50 worth of damage to a wall in Dudley on May 12. He was given a three month weekend curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 1pm and 1am. He must pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Kevin Stuart Pritchard, aged 53, of Newbury Lane, Oldbury, was given an eight week community order for drink driving in Netherton on July 6. When tested, he had 94mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was also sentenced for driving without a licence. He was given an eight week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 8pm and 8am. He was disqualified from driving for 48 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

Jason Leonard Taylor, aged 32, of Wallace Close, Oldbury, was sent to prison for 20 weeks, suspended for two years for assaulting someone in Oldbury on January 26. He must carry out 200 hours unpaid work, pay £100 compensation and £620 court costs.

Mark Yardley, aged 36, of Bent Street, Brierley Hill, was discharged conditionally for two years for stealing £100 cash in Brierley Hill on May 17. He must pay £100 compensation and pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £100 court costs.

Steven William Hands, aged 35, of Greenwood Avenue, Rowley Regis, was sent to prison for 24 weeks, suspended for 18 months for stealing a dash camera, worth £30, in Lye on June 14. He was given a two month curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 6am. He must pay £100 compensation, a victim surcharge of £115 and £300 court costs.

Jason Thomas Jones, aged 46, of Vicarage Road, Lye, was sent to prison for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing a brass plaque and charity collection box, worth £30, from The Ryemarket, Stourbridge, on March 26. He was given an eight week curfew and for the duration must remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am. He must pay £30 compensation, a victim surcharge of £115 and £200 court costs.

Shaun Edward Trevor Stokes, aged 54, of Piper Place, Amblecote, was discharged conditionally for 12 months for being in or upon a garage in Stourbridge for an unlawful purpose, namely intent to steal, on June 5. He must pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £135 court costs.

Ross Hodgkinson, aged 39, of Bramble Green, Dudley, was sent to prison for 16 weeks for stealing 20 tins of salmon, worth £49.80, from Farmfoods, Brierley Hill, while subject to a suspended sentence. He must pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Stuart Leonard Johnson, aged 42, of Osprey Drive, Dudley, was sent to prison for 10 weeks, suspended for 12 months for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intention to cause two people to believe that violence would be used, in Dudley on July 14. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £135 court costs.

Ross Andrew Hierons, aged 39, of Southwick Road, Halesowen, was sent to prison for 12 weeks for stealing items, worth £135, from shops in Halesowen and Stourbridge between May 23 and June 12. He was also sentenced for assaulting a man in Halesowen on May 24 and failing to surrender to custody at Dudley Magistrates Court on July 26, having been released on bail. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Adan Eveson, aged 40, of Addison Road, Brierley Hill, was given a 12 month community order for assaulting a woman in Oldbury on June 23 and causing £30 worth of damage to a car mirror. He must carry out 80 hours unpaid work and pay compensation of £80, a victim surcharge of £80 and £300 court costs.

Jodie Marie Wardall, aged 26, of Park Street, Lye, was given a four week community order for stealing items, worth £391.48, from stores in Brierley Hill and Stourbridge between January 31 and July 28. She was given a four week curfew and for the duration must remain at her home address between 3pm and 3am. She must pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £185 court costs.
