THERE'S something about Maria at a Lower Gornal school as they stage a production of the Sound of Music.

Students from Ellowes Hall Sports College will take to the stage each night from next Tuesday (November 13) to Friday November 16 for a three-night run of The Sound of Music'.

Beth Sherburn, aged 16, will star as Maria in the production featuring more than 100 students on and off stage.

This will be the Stickley Lane school's latest annual show following in the footsteps of previous productions including Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof and Oliver.

Three primary school pupils from across Dudley have also won the chance to appear in the school with two of the girls playing Grettle on separate nights and the other lucky girl will play an orphan on stage.

Teacher John Bailey, producer and director of the show, said: "Staff and students on the show have all been working really hard."

Tickets, priced £5 for adults and £4 for children, are still available for some of the show, although Friday's performance is sold-out. Each show starts at 7.30pm. To book call the school's reception on 01384 817916.
