A Sedgley karate club has raised a knockout £350 for Cancer Research with an open day and barbecue.
Over a hundred people turned up to try taster classes in modern karate, kickboxing, yoga and self defence at the event hosted by the British Modern Karate Association club.
The club, which meets at High Arcal School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, decided to organise the fundraiser after a relative of one of their instructors was diagnosed with cancer.
Chief instructor Ray Hoffman, a former world kickboxing champion, said there had been a fantastic turnout to the event on August 17, with people of all ages getting involved.
He added: “This was is the first time we’d done anything like this, but we had such a good response we’ve now decided to make it an annual event.”
