STAFF at Dudley Zoo are on red alert for Comic Relief this weekend.
As part of this year's Do Something Funny for Money campaign keepers at the Castle Hill tourist attraction have organised a Red Toes trail around the 25-acre site, for visitors to spot a variety of exotic animals including red panda, giant red-kneed spiders, red-eared terrapins and red-ruffed lemurs.
Other species included in the Red Toes trail are bush dog, koi carp, Rothschild's giraffe, scarlet macaw, guanaco and native red squirrels.
DZG CEO, Peter Suddock, said: "It should be great fun, the Red Toes trail takes in a wide variety of animals across the whole of the zoo site, so visitors will have to keep their eyes peeled."
The zoo will also be donating 50p to Comic Relief for every visitor through the gates during Friday, March 13 and Saturday the 14th, and hope to raise lots of cash for the worthwhile cause.
Mr Suddock added: "Many of our rarest animals are from parts of the world receiving help from Comic Relief, so we do have an important link.
"We hope lots of visitors will come and see us throughout the weekend to help us raise funds."
In addition to the Red Toes Trail staff are also turning the spotlight on the site's ancient castle and will be lighting the medieval monument in red.
Mr Suddock, said: "We are one of a handful of landmark buildings across the country who are lighting up for Comic Relief.
"The castle can be seen for miles across the Black Country and will look stunning with the coloured lighting."
