A Dudley man was ordered to pay costs and fines of almost £300 after being caught illegally transporting waste.
William Davies, aged 21, of Oak Tree Caravan Park, Pensnett, admitted carrying scrap metal in his vehicles when he appeared at Dudley magistrates court on March 10.
He was stopped as part of a joint operation between Dudley Council and police, in Folkes Road, Lye, in June last year.
Mr Davies failed to produce the required licence for carrying the waste and admitted the offence in court.
He was fined £135 and ordered to pay £150 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “I would urge anyone transporting waste to make sure they have the proper legal paperwork before attempting it.
“If they do not, they will be caught and end up before the courts with a hefty fine.”
Dudley Council works closely with police and the Environment Agency to ensure people carrying waste have the correct licence.
People should also make sure anyone offering to dispose of their waste has the correct licence from the Environment Agency.
