STAFF and pupils at a Dudley primary school are celebrating after moving into their new £6.2 million state-of-the-art school.

The new term unveiled a new eco-friendly school building for the youngsters at Wren’s Nest Primary School, which now boasts all the latest technologies.

Re-building work started at the Foxglove Road school in May 2006 following a successful bid for Government funding.

Three years on and the site has been transformed and the school now features classrooms brimming full of mod-cons, including interactive whiteboards and ICT technology along with sun-tubes which bring in natural light and fresh air.

Staff spent their Easter holidays moving all equipment from the old building into the new school.

The former school is to be demolished in the coming weeks.

All existing furniture and equipment which is no longer required has also been boxed up and sent to schools in Africa.

The children have been involved in the design of their new school and have worked hard to produce artwork and a mosaic for the new building.

As well as state-of-the-art classrooms, teachers can also deliver assemblies in style in the newhall, with its cinema style projector and large wall screen, as well as a fully integrated surround sound system.

The new school also includes a large sports hall and new dining kitchen festooned with all the latest culinary equipment.

And outside there is a roof garden, climbing wall, adventure trail, wildlife area and amphitheatre.

Councillor Liz Walker, Dudley Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “I would like to thank the teachers, pupils and parents for their hardwork and commitment and, of course, the design team for producing sucha fantastic school for the Wren’s Nest community.”
