A HOLLY Hall church is set to be blooming lovely this weekend as it continues with its 125th anniversary celebrations.

St Augustine’s Church in Hallchurch Road, will be holding a flower festival weekend from Friday (June 12) until Sunday (June 14).

The festival is entitled ‘Milestones during the last 125 years’ and visitors will be taken on a journey of past events, as the colourful displays depict important milestones in the church’s history over the last century.

Events which are set to come to life in flower form include the laying of the church foundation stone, the building of Low Town and the new build of the Holly Hall estate in 1948.

Many of the displays have been put together by members of other churches, who were invited to showcase their talents in the festival.

Staff and pupils at Holly Hall Mathematics and Computing College have also produced a novel flower arrangement for the festival - by depicting a computer virtual arrangement, which can be seen on a laptop throughout the weekend.

The church will be open for viewing from 12pm until 4.30pm on Friday, 11am until 5pm on Saturday and 11.30pm until 5pm on Sunday.

Admission is £1 and refreshments will be available throughout the festival.
