Tail of two brothers who went walkies...

WHEN the Murphy family’s pet staffie Levi disappeared last month they were left desolate and spent days searching for their missing dog.

However after posting a message on dog search website K9 Search UK, the family from Wren’s Nest Road, Dudley, were delighted to receive a call saying a dog matching Levi’s description had been found wandering around Netherton.

Racing down to the kennels to see if Levi had indeed been found Steve and his family were left dumbfounded when the dog turned out to be their other Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Saxon, who went missing four-years-ago.

Steve, aged 35, said: “I just couldn’t believe it. The two are brothers and we have had them since puppies.

They both had a habit of wandering off, but we kept getting them back.

“Four-years-ago, when Saxon was two, he disappeared. We searched everywhere for him, put flyers up, knocked on doors, but we thought that’s it – someone has got him.”

He added:“Then on May 29,Levi ran off while we were washing the car.

“Again we looked everywhere for him and phoned all the dogs homes. Then following the call from the lady from the website, we went to the kennels and they brought the dog out to us, but I knew straight away it wasn’t Levi.”

However on closer inspection, the staffie turned out to be Saxon, with his distinctive markings soon being recognised by his owners.

Steve said: “He has four white socks, a blaze on his chest, a spot on his neck and he had a poorly ear when he left - and the same ear is still poorly. I was amazed. “He is following me round everywhere and has soon settled in back at home. We are spoiling him rotten, but I just hope we can find Levi now so we can get them back together.”

Jennie Dhanjal, from K9 Search UK, based in Great Barr, said: “We are absolutely amazed that we have been able to reunite Saxon with his owners.

“However we are still looking for Levi. He is male, black, with a white marking on his chest in the shape of a molar tooth and he greying around the muzzle.

“Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should contact us in 07988 433 187 or visit k9searchuk.com”
