ALL the world was a stage for children from a Kates Hill primary school as they watched their interpretation of a Shakespeare play performed in the Bard’s home town.
Year 5 pupils from St Edmund and St John School, in Beechwood Road, have spent the last few weeks working alongside the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company in writing and drama workshops based on The Comedy of Errors.
As part of the workshop, the children had to construct their own version of the Bard’s play, which sees two sets of long-lost brothers try to make sense of the strange world around them.
The finale to the workshops saw the youngsters travel to The Dell theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, where they saw students from Wolverhampton College bring their script to life on stage.
The event was also held to coincide with Shine Week, a week long celebration of all talents in children and young people.
Liisa Spink, project manager for the performance, said: “It was great that the RSC and Shine worked together in partnership to showcase the talents of our local children.
“The children have worked hard over the last few weeks to perfect their scripts and what better way to perform these than at The Dell at the RSC during Shine Week”.
