POLICE in Dudley North are continuing to tackle anti-social behaviour caused by the misuse of mini motos and off road motor bikes.

In Netherton, plain clothed officers have set up an operation to clamp down on offenders using Saltwells Nature Reserve and Netherton Park.

Letters have also been sent to local businesses and residents advising of the police actions and asking for information, which has resulted in a network of contacts.

As a result of this, the neighbourhood policing team have been able to quickly respond to a number of incidents, apprehending several offenders.

Since April, six bikes have been seized and warning markers placed on several others and their riders. This means that if the bikes are found being used anti-socially or illegally they will be seized. The most recent seizure resulted in the arrest of the rider after the bike was found to be stolen.

Pc Jessica Asprey, from Netherton police station, said: β€œAt this time of year we always see an increase in complaints from residents about the noise nuisance caused by these bikes, as well as concerns for the safety of the public as well as the riders. We will continue to look at different ways to tackle this problem and keep the public informed of our actions.”
