A DUDLEY Parkinson's Disease support group is benefiting from the help of shoppers at an Amblecote supermarket.

Over the last few months, Sainsburys Amblecote has been busy raising money for the Parkinson's Disease Society, based at Woodside Community Centre in Highgate Road.

And over the last three months alone, the store has raised over £2,800 through a variety of fundraising activities, including raffles, coffee mornings and staff dress up days.

A balloon release from the store raised £200 alone.

The funds have now been passed onto the group to support its work, as it does not receive any government funding.

The money will be used on vital services including conductive education - which helps sufferers with writing, as well as subsidizing trips and holidays, and paying for carers to join them.

Matt Prosser, Sainsbury's Store Manager said, "It's been fantastic to see the way everyone has pulled together since we started raising money for the Parkinson's Disease Society. We've all really enjoyed raising funds for this very worthy cause, with the help of our customers and colleagues, and its great to think we are making a positive difference to so many people."

A further fundraiser is planned at the supermarket on Wednesday with an in store collection.
