Man sent for trial over Brierley Hill nightclub shooting


A 32-YEAR-old man has been sent into custody following a shooting at a Brierley Hill nightclub.

Matthew Oliver Coke, of Waterworks Road, Winson Green, was sent for trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court after being charged with wounding with intent and possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence The incident took place in the early hours of September 19, at Indulgence night club, when a Dudley man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

It is thought an altercation took place between the man and a small group of men inside the Meeting Lane nightclub, which was hosting a private party.

His trial has been scheduled for 10am on January 29 2010.

Coke was arrested by police executing a firearms warrant at an address in the Ladywood area of Birmingham, during an early morning raid on November 5.

He appeared in front of Halesowen Magistrates Court on Friday, November 6.

Magistrates also jailed Coke for one week, after he was found to be in possession of cannabis when he was arrested by officers.
