Dudley man jailed for large scale drugs supply

A 26-YEAR-old Dudley man caught with over £5,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis when police raided a Netherton flat has been jailed for three and a half years.

Judge Nicholas Webb told Anthony Campbell, of Four Winds Road, Dudley, only a substantial prison sentence was appropriate for his crimes because he was involved in the commercial supply of controlled drugs on a large scale.

Mark Rees prosecuting said officers went to the flat in Arley Court where they found £2,400 worth of cocaine in a kitchen cupboard.

He told Wolverhampton Crown Court that £3,184 worth of cannabis was also recovered while 12 cannabis plants were being cultivated.

There was a heating and watering system for the plants and the electricity supply to the property had been bypassed to provide free power for the cultivation, said Mr Rees.

In a car the officers also found receipts for the hydroponic equipment together with a book entitled, "An inside guide for Marijuana growers."

Campbell admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply and also cultivating cannabis and he accepted prison was inevitable, said Richard Davenport defending.
