A LITTLE piece of Dudley will be adorning the shelves of Buckingham Palace and Downing Street this year thanks to the artistic talents of one Milking Bank boy.

Daniel Har ris, who attends Milking Bank Primary School, won Dudley Nor th MP Ian Austin’s Christmas card competition.

The MP challenged local school children to design his official Parliamentary Christmas card, which have been sent to The Queen, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of Commons.

And after judging the colourful festive creations, Mr Austin decided Daniel’s picture, which depicts Priory Ruins, Dudley Zoo and Castle, Himley Hall, as well as the Black Country Living Museum, was the winning design.

The MP visited the Aintree Way school to congratulate Daniel and award him tickets to the Black Country Living Museum, Dudley Zoo and Alton Towers.

All schools which took part in the competition have also been awarded sports equipment, while the three runners up – Chloe Charlton, from Milking Bank Primary, Jessica Roughton, from Bramford Primary and Tia Hickman, from Bramford Primary – also received a ticket to the Black Country Living Museum or Dudley Zoo.

Their designs feature on the back of the card.

Mr Austin said: “The standard of entrants this year has been absolutely fantastic.

“I loved the picture of Dudley’s most famous landmarks.

“I thought the card was a great example of how we can celebrate our heritage and was delighted that local youngsters are proud to show them off as well.

“I’d like to thank all of the children and the schools who entered and all of the local businesses who donated prizes."
