DUDLEY Muslim Forum is benefiting from £750 extra funding to help decorate its premises.

The group has been given a helping hand by West Midlands Police, who donated the cash through the Police Property Act Fund.

Pc Louise Morton, from Dudley police station, presented a cheque to project manager Adnan Gul at their premises in High Street.

The group offers training and support to people who do not take part in traditional forms of learning, equiping them with the skills needed to find employment.

Established two years ago, the forum also provides courses on English language skills for those with other languages (ESOL), as well as health and safety courses, first aid and child protection.

Mr Gul said: “The funding will help us improve our training room with new carpets and blinds for privacy to help women who use the centre feel more secure.

“We are grateful to West Midlands Police for their support.”

Pc Morton said: “We are delighted to contribute towards such a worthy cause. DMF relies on funding to provide this facility, which benefits the whole community.”

The Police Property Act Fund is used to support community groups which improve the quality of life in the neighbourhoods, with cash generated from the sale of found and detained property.
