PENSNETT residents are set to get their first ever library facility as a new library link opens next month.

Dudley Council has joined forces with Dudley Primary Care Trust to open the new link at High Oak surgery.

The High Street facility will open on April 19 for 58 hours a week, offering users access to more than 1,500 books as well as computers.

A self-service facility will be also available so bookworms can borrow and return books as well as requesting items.

And in addition, the library will be staffed for 10 hours each week.

Councillor David Simms, cabinet member responsible for libraries and archives, said: “The opening of Pensnett’s first ever library facility really does underline the great strides we have taken in developing the library service through this modernisation programme. I hope people in the Pensnett community will make the most of the new facility which will be open for 58 hours each week which is close to the same opening hours as our key town centre libraries.”

The Pensnett facility will be the fourth library link created as part of the modernisation programme which has been ongoing for more than two years.

Other library links can be found at Woodside, Dudley Wood, Pensnett and Quarry Bank.
