A KIDDERMINSTER teenager who died as a result of a stab wound had a drugs problem and suffered from depression, an inquest was told.
The inquest into the death of 17-year-old Nicholas Sheppard, of Land Oak Drive, on October 3, was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.
Coroner Victor Round said that paramedics had attended the home of a friend of Nicholas's at Wheatmill Close, Blakedown at 11.17pm and found him suffering from an abdominal wound. He was confirmed dead at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
Mr Round said: "Nicholas had various problems with drugs. He suffered from depression and was still being treated for various problems."
The cause of death was given as bleeding due to a stab wound to the abdomen.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
Two men and two women who were helping police with their inquiries into the death were released without charge last Wednesday.
A police spokeswoman said the death was still being treated as unexplained.
