THERE are celebrations at Bishop Milner Catholic School this morning, as its A-Level students gained outstanding results with an impressive pass rate of over 99 per cent.

Students at the Burton Road sixth form scored a 99.6 per cent pass rate, maintaining the school's position as one of the best in the country, with 39 of the teenagers finding the new A* , A and B grades on their results slip.

Following their results, a number of students are now off to study at some of the most prestigious universities.

An outstanding individual performance came from Hannah Callaghan, who gained three A grades and a B and is not set to read Psychology at St Andrews in Scotland.

Ann Marie Forster found an A*, two A grades and one B grade on her results slip, and is now off to read Law at Leeds.

Meanwhile Natalie Hancox achieved two A grades and three B grades and will read English at Birmingham next term.

And Beth Sidaway and Ryan Skidmore both achieved two A grades and two B grades, which will allow them to read Psychology at Leicester and Ecology at Lancaster, respectively.

While Emma Ward and Tom Weston will both be studying Psychology at Birmingham University, with their top grades.

A thrilled headteacher, Des Fagan, paid tribute to the hard work given by his students and staff.

He said: "Our team of dedicated staff pride themselves on giving students the individual support they need to do their very best - these results show our approach works."

Mr Fagan added: The students, their families and the school should feel very proud of their achievements."
