DUDLEY Zoo staff are entering into the spirit of Halloween with a scary doorstep campaign.

Sporting ghoulish make-up and costumes staff are spreading the word about spooky half- term fun with a leaflet drop, thanks to Dudley-based professional theatrical make-up artist Ryan Hesford who created ghouls, ghosts and a corpse bride for the event.

Ryan, aged 23, said: "I really enjoyed working with the zoo team and was delighted with the finished looks, they were certainly scary.

"All of the looks will be recreated throughout Halloween week at the zoo, but it was such fun to make them up for the leaflet drop and see people's faces when they hit the streets!"

Marketing Manager, Julia Lockett, said: "We've got a whole range of scary events lined up throughout half term for all ages, and staff thought leafleting in costume would be a great idea to let everyone know."

For younger visitors Boo at the Zoo Week includes a family ghost night on Wednesday, October 27, 6.30pm till 9pm, with storytelling, trick or treat activities, mini ghost walks , spooky animal creature features, wrinkly witches, and the opportunity to investigate creepy crawly corner.

For adults over 16, there is a chance to learn about the unexplained mysteries of Dudley Castle and hear horror stories in the courtyard before visiting the Castle Asylum.

The event which takes place on Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29, from 7.30pm to 11pm, costs £15 per person.
