A YOUNG Pensnett photographer beat off youngsters from across Brierley Hill to make it through to a West Midlands Police competition.
Kieran Wylde, aged 12, was selected for his photos of dumped clothing and a green open space in the `My Neighbourhood' event.
The Pensnett School of Technology pupil received his award at Tally Ho in Birmingham along with five other young finalists from across the West Midlands.
The police initiative was run to find out what children like and don't like about where they live.
PC Ian Priest, based in the school through the Safer Schools Partnership, said: "The students came up with some extremely good photographs.
"It helped them to see the bad parts and the good parts of where they live."
Other entries included images of tidy streets, flowers, people smiling, graffiti, dumped furniture, litter and people smoking.
