DUDLEY United boss Andy Mulligan has been struck with cup fever after his side powered their way to the League Cup semi-finals.

United hit Kidderminster Harriers with a seven goal barrage in the quarter-finals on Sunday, a performance which had the manager purring.

And Mulligan says glory in the cup this year will banish the disappointment of last season when they were cruelly knocked out on penalties by Coventry.

He said: “I really want to win the cup, there’s nothing quite like a finals day.

“We are going to have to wait to see who we get in the next round but I’m hoping we can avoid Solihull and then take them on in the final.”

Jo Smith bagged four goals while Kayleigh Griffiths, Sarah Cross and Leila Hopkins were also on target for United, who hope to exact further cup revenge this Sunday when they tackle Leafield Athletic in the County Cup.

Leafield, who play a division above Dudley, knocked them out last year.

Mulligan added: “We were brilliant, the best we have played for two months.

“The hunger has come back, Kidderminster are not a bad side but we battered them.

“It got to the point where I was looking at substitutions and looking at the 11 on the pitch and I could not make any changes.”
