COMMUNITY groups can enjoy coffee and cake while getting advice on online social networking at a new Social Media Surgery.

Cafe Grande in Stone Street, Dudley, will be throwing open its door to voluntary groups and charity workers for the first free community surgery next week (Thursday, April 14) between 5pm - 7pm.

As well as being able to tuck into cakes, snacks and drinks, experts will also be on hand to talk through how to use free internet tools such as facebook, twitter, youtube and blog writing, in a bid to help voluntary groups across the borough spread the word about what they do.

Café owner, Martin Williams, who has joined forces with Dudley CVS to host the event, said: “We are really excited about hosting our first Social Media Surgery and hope that it will be a very popular event. It will be great to welcome people in to discover our friendly café while they meet new friends and learn new skills.”

Pre-booking is essential as places are limited.

Any groups interested should register their details at tinyurl.com/dudleysms or by calling Dudley CVS on 01384 573381. All participants are encouraged to bring along their own laptops, cameras and smart phones.
