LOVE was in the air at Sledmere Primary School as they held a wedding day.

The youngsters from Reception held a mock double wedding at the People’s Mission Hall in Swan Street, when two brides and grooms were married on May 4 by Reverend Brian Payton.

The event, which was held to celebrate the Royal Wedding, even included the wedding party being whisked to church in a Rolls Royce which had been donated for the day by one of the bride's grandfathers.

In the run up to the event the children even wrote their own invitations, made and iced their own wedding cakes, made lucky horse shoes and practiced the songs to sing at the service.

Following the wedding ceremony, the children and guests, who were all dressed for the occasion, returned back to the school for a wedding breakfast in the Grand Hall.
