DUDLEY Sports joint boss Tony Gore will urge his strikers to get physical this season.

Gore and Paul Blakeley are excited by the potential of their forward line for the upcoming campaign, with Craig Tibbetts (pictured right), Giuseppe Maffei and Josh Taylor all finding the target in pre-season.

But while Gore has no fears over their ability, he admits the young players will have to get used to coping with the rough and tumble of the West Midlands Premier.

He said: “We are pleased with the new signing and excited about the season, they’ve all made a good impact.

“They’ve got talent, there’s no doubt about that, it’s all about how they adapt to the physical side of things.

“That said, in the three games so far they have shown no problem with it, I suppose only time will tell.”

Sports host Tipton Town in their blue riband friendly this Saturday before the action proper gets underway when they host Cradley Town in their first league fixture on August 6.

That is followed by trips to Gornal Athletic, Pegasus Juniors and a clash with Bustleholme and Gore admits his side could have been given an easier start.

He said: “You wonder where they got those fixtures from but I suppose you have to play them sometime.

“At the moment everyone is just keen to get on with things.

“We have a small squad but we’ve been pleased with how the new lads have bedded in and we are looking forward to the start of the season.

“The first day of the season is our highest league position for three years!”
