TIVIDALE boss Dean Whitehouse admits where Danny Campbell was concerned, he just couldn’t say no.

The former Bromsgrove Rovers frontman is the latest signing at Packwood Road after approaching Whitehouse last week.

Campbell spent last season spear-heading Tipton Town’s assault on the Midland Alliance crown and had been on trial at Stourbridge earlier this summer.

With Mark Swann and Matt Jukes already on the books, Whitehouse admits competition for a starting place up front promises to be fierce.

He said: “I’ve no idea where I’m going to put them all.

“The trouble is when a player like Danny Campbell asks to join you just can’t say no.

“He scored quite a few goals last season for Tipton and from what I’d heard had been doing pretty well at Stourbridge.

“But he contacted me last week and said he was keen on joining. He’s impressed by what we are doing here.”

Campbell made an instant impact for the Dale, scoring in their 3-1 win over Continental Star last Saturday. Sam Williams and Grant Joshua were also on the mark.

Last week saw the release of the Midland Alliance fixtures and Tivi, promoted as West Midlands Premier champions, will make their bow at Ellesmere Rangers.

The first home game sees them take on Bridgnorth Town on August 9 and they then host Stratford Town on August 13.

Whitehouse, who is no fan of pre-season, can’t wait for the real action to start.

He said: “I hate pre-season to be fair, I can never really get in to the friendly games and there is always a lot of chopping and changing.

“It’s only really in the last couples of friendlies you are up to speed.”

Tivi have brought in a number of new additions over the summer but are still keen to find a kitman. Anyone interested can contact Whitehouse on 07500 864866.
