A CHRISTMAS card designed by a talented eight year-old school girl has been finding its way through the letterboxes of thousands of people across the country, after she won Dudley North MP’s annual competition.

The card, designed by Lucy Harris, from Milking Bank Primary School, is being delivered to a host of borough residents, VIPs and even the Queen after being picked by Ian Austin to be his official greeting this year.

Her card features Father Christmas and Rudolph flying over Dudley Castle and was picked after the MP spotted she had drawn the union flag flying from the castle – something which he has been calling on for all public buildings in Dudley to do, for many years.

Ian stopped off at the Aintree Way school to present Lucy with £20 worth of book tokens during a special assembly.

Ian also picked four runners up, whose designs also appear on the back of the card.

Ben Moore from Queen Victoria, Kiedis Beau Raybould from Roberts Primary, Sam Tanswell from Cotwall End and Georgia Linton from Bramford Primary also all received prizes for their efforts, including tickets donated by the Black Country Living Museum and Dudley Zoo.

Ian Austin MP said: “One of the nicest thing about my job is judging this competition every year and the standard of entries this year has been absolutely fantastic. I loved the picture of Dudley’s most famous landmark. I thought the card was a great example of how we can celebrate our heritage and I’m delighted that local youngsters are proud to show them off as well”.
