TEAMS from across the Midlands put themselves to the test against Olympic hopefuls in a rowing race at Tesco Extra.

The event, on January 7, at the new Dudley store was organized by sports recovery drink brand For Goodness Shakes with teams of four invited to race on rowing machines against each other, with the fastest team pitting their wits against Birmingham University’s rowing squad, which included Olympic hopefuls.

The winning team were from Birmingham University, who were awarded £500 worth of For Goodness Shakes products.

Lee Gurteen from For Goodness Shakes said: “The Dudley Boat race was the first event of its kind.

“We saw some extremely fast and competitive times posted during the day but the Birmingham University team pipped the other squads to the post with a superb time of five minutes and 38 seconds over 2000 metres.”
