A 29 YEAR-old Dudley resident had the honour of representing the UK to carry the Youth Olympic Flame as part of the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Torch Relay.

Ben Stokes was chosen by games partner, Samsung, to be one of 2,012 inspirational torchbearers from across the globe who made history participating in the relay during the lead up to the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games, which took place in Innsbruck, Austria, from January 13 – 22.

Ben, said: “It was such an incredible honour to be chosen to carry the Youth Olympic Flame and become part of this new chapter of Olympic Games history. I had an absolutely fantastic time.”

Ben flew the flag for the UK by carrying the torch on its first day of its tour in Sölden and Ischgl.

As part of the trip, Ben also received a skiing master class in the Austrian Alps and enjoyed a three-night stay in a top hotel.
