LEE Chilton scored twice as Tividale hit five past sorry Studley.

The winger opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick and then finished it with a delightful solo effort in stoppage time.

Chris Russell, Danny Ashton and Matt Jukes were on target in between as Tivi coasted home.

Studley’s best chance fell to Lei Brown but he mis-controlled when through on goal.

Visitors to Packwood Road are getting used to seeing plenty of goals, with the home side having hit 21 in their last four games.

This wasn’t a classic performance by any stretch of the imagination but it was never going to be on what was a very heavy pitch.

All that said, Dean whitehouse’s side still managed to play some attractive stuff in the 15 minutes after half-time when the match was effectively put to bed.

Studley will wonder what might have been after seeing a strong early penalty shout for a tug on Brown by Joel Kettle waved away by the referee.

Brown’s later miss, with score at 1-0 and half-time rapidly approaching, was also crucial. Ninety seconds later Russell doubled the hosts advantage and left the visitors with a mountain they never looked like climbing.

The task looked a mere foothill during the early exchanges as Tivi failed to fire. Studley’s penalty appeal came in their first attack of the match and they soon had another, with Dan Carter shooting straight at home keeper Tim Beech following a nice run.

At the other end, Jukes had Studley stopper Richard Taylor stretching to push away a shot from distance. The keeper also comfortably held a volleyed effort from Russell.

But as so often has been the case when Tividale are not on full throttle, it was Chilton who found the accelerator peddle. Russell was upended needlessly at the edge of the box and Chilton delivered one of his trademark free-kicks, which just cleared the wall and dipped just inside the far post to give Tividale the lead.

The hosts were suddenly into their stride and Kettle saw a mis-hit cross strike the crossbar with Taylor scrambling, while Jason Chilton shot straight at the keeper after cutting inside from the left flank.

Russell really should have made it two but scuffed his shot onto the post after taking down an exquisite Adam Hill through ball. Hill himself then shot straight at the keeper following another nice move. Studley were posing less and less of a threat, with Brown also complaining of a knee problem.

But with two minutes remaining of the half, they had a golden chance to level. Carter collected the ball out on the right and his ball into the centre took out the entire defence and left Brown one-on-one with Beech, only for a heavy touch to take the ball straight into the arms of the relieved keeper.

The miss proved costly as Tividale doubled their advantage 90 seconds later. Muddy conditions had seen a number of underhit passes and when Matt Collins sold his team-mate short with a ball across the box, he set up Lee Chilton for a shot which Taylor was forced to tip over. From the short corner, Ashton’s cross was headed back across by Luke Paskin to where the waiting Russell couldn’t miss from two yards out.

If the goal was a hammer blow to Studley, things got even worse just four minutes into the second period. Chilton found Hill and though his shot was parried by Taylor, Ashton was in the right place to convert a simple rebound.

Tivi were now starting to boss it and Chilton curled an effort just wide, though goal number four was not long in arriving.

Again Chilton was involved near the end of a super team move, his pull back taking a slight deflection off a defender before finding Jukes whose shot went in off the far post.

Russell nearly bagged himself a second but ran the ball out of play after trying to round Taylor.

Studley were in danger of being overrun at that stage but to their credit managed to stem the constant flow of attacks, without ever seriously testing Beech themselves.

Inside the final 15 minutes the hosts started to pile on more pressure and Hill had a shot well saved by Taylor.

The keeper then did brilliantly to tip over Kyle Hill’s half-volley after the substitute had collected an Ashton chip on the edge of the box. From the corner, Adam Wattley crashed a shot against the underside of the bar.

But Tivi were not to be denied a fifth. In the second minute of added time, Chilton picked up the ball outside the box and advanced past two defenders before lofting his shot past Taylor from an acute angle.
