POPULAR children’s author Jacqueline Wilson delighted young book worms when she stopped off to sign copies of her latest novel at Merry Hill.

The award-winning scribe of the Tracey Beaker series met fans at the shopping centre’s WHSmith store on Thursday February 2 when she visited to launch her new book The Worst Thing About My Sister.

Kelly Reed, Westfield Merry Hill marketing manager, said: “We had an amazing turnout, we anticipated this would be a popular meet ‘n’ greet and we saw 200 children attend. Jacqueline Wilson has such loyal fans and they all came out in full force to meet their favourite author.”

Wilson’s new offering tells the tale of polar opposite sisters Marty and Melissa who are forced to put their differences aside when they have to share a room together.

The author, however, is best-known for her long-running Tracey Beaker Book series, which has gained a loyal following with young fans over the years.

The first book was published in 1991 and the tales about the youngster who lives in a children’s home have continued to remain successful, popularised through a TV series of the same name.
