A DUDLEY pervert who downloaded more than 2,000 pornographic pictures of children has been put behind bars for two years.
Judge Frank Chapman told Christopher Morel the images were among the worst he had seen in his legal career.
He told Wolverhampton Crown Court: "There are very, many unpleasant images and these children would have been significantly harmed."
The Judge said he accepted the 24-year-old - described as a computer geek - had viewed the images after taking drugs including ecstasy, LSD and amphetamines.
He added: "These drugs cause people to behave in very strange ways.
"They disturbed your views on yourself and lead you down this path."
Morel was shopped to the police by his partner when the indecent images were discovered in his computer files, said Nigel Hall, prosecuting.
He said Morel stressed to police officers he had been "horrified" by the images after his arrest.
Morel - now of no fixed address - was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was barred from having any contact with children under 16 years of age.
He pleaded guilty to 21 charges of making indecent images of children and to one charge of possessing indecent images.
Andrew Tucker, defending, said Morel had been misusing mind-altering drugs and they had lead him into a "dark world".
He said Morel viewed the images to see if he had a sexual interest in children but they proved he did not.
