TONY Gore believes Dudley Sports have everything to play for as they chase West Midland League Cup glory.

Sports host AFC Wulfrunians in the first leg of a semi-final clash on Tuesday night.

Joint boss Gore is aware his side go into the tie as underdogs against the side currently sitting third in the West Midlands Premier.

But Sports have been no pushovers themselves this season and Gore believes they have a fighting chance.

He said: “We will go into the game as underdogs, no doubt about that.

“We want to be in the tie and going into the second game with everything to play for so if we can get a small lead or draw it will be a great result.”

After being down in the doldrums the past couple of years, Sports go into the closing weeks of this season fighting on two fronts with a top ten finish in the league still not out of the question.

That would improve the club’s hopes of playing in the FA Cup next term, though Gore believes they may have to win three of their last four games, starting with Saturday’s trip to Bewdley Town.

Sports go into the game in good spirits after narrowly losing 4-2 to fourth-placed Wolves Casuals last weekend.

Gore said: “We were really unlucky at Casuals, it was a fantastic game.

“We were behind twice and fought back on both occasions but they scored twice in stoppage time.

“We played really, really well and I think the disappointment of the players at the end of the game shows how far we have come.

“It’s been a great run really, the performances have been good and we have players who try to win every game.”

Dudley Town made it 14 goals in three games and kept up their push for a top six finish with a 4-1 win at bottom side Darlaston Town.

The Robins hosted Wellington last night and have another home game on Saturday when Stafford Town are the visitors, before they visit Sporting Khalsa on Tuesday night.

Lye Town were beaten 5-0 by Malvern Town on Saturday. They now visit Shawbury United this Saturday and head to Darlaston Town on Tuesday.
