A DEDICATION service has marked the opening of a new funeral home in Dudley.

Midcounties Co-operative Funeralcare has opened the premises in the former Chinese restaurant building, on the corner of Nith Place and Salop Street following a major redevelopment.

As well as a Chapel of Rest and an arrangement room, the new facility also features a washing and dressing area to cater to the spiritual requirements of a number of different faiths.

A dedication service in the home’s Chapel of Rest took place on April 19 and was conducted by Reverend Andrew Wickens from St James Church and Father David Lloyd from St Peter and the English Martyrs Church in Lower Gornal.

Kevin Wainwright, District Manager for Midcounties Co-operative Funeralcare, said: “We deal with people at a very difficult time in their lives so we have done all we can to make their experience here as welcoming and as comfortable as possible.

“The dedication was a great success and we look forward to becoming a valued part of the community.”
