Teaching twosome set to go

PUPILS at Holly Hall Academy are bidding farewell to two long-serving teachers who are retiring at the end of the week.
Assistant principal Gary Colwell is leaving the Scotts Green Close school after 30 years.
Mr Colwell, who is also head of year, began his career as a PE teacher and has also taught religious studies and geography over the years.
Paying tribute, headteacher Graham Lloyd said: “Gary is a very experienced teacher, who shows a real concern for all the students.”
Also retiring alongside Gary is special needs teacher, Kate Cross, who has spent the last 37 years at the school.
Mr Lloyd added: “Kate has worked with lots of children on a one-to-one basis and in groups who without her help would have struggled in life.”
Kate is also retiring at the same time as her husband, Mike,who hasworked as a technology technician at the same school for 18 years.The pair are both now looking forward to travelling together.
Mr Lloyd said: “I think Gary and Kate’s loyalty and service have been an inspiration to us all and they have both earned a well deserved rest.”
